Willard Grant Conspiracy are a true musical collective, who can count residents of Massachusetts, Arizona, Washington, New York, Illinois, London, Holland, Slovenia and Italy amongst their number.
Epic, stately, and resolutely full of rich emotion, Robert Fisher’s deeply resonant voice – the centrepiece of the Willard Grant sound – is built for drama, and the one factor that transcends the group’s many cultural influences to root the band’s sound.
His talent for dark but sophisticated lyrics helps slide the band’s music into the Americana category, but it can just as easily slip into baroque chamber pop or noisy rock when the mood strikes. Numerous critics have made comparisons to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and whilst it’s true that if you like Nick Cave, you’ll certainly like the Willard Grant Conspiracy, that still doesn’t tell the whole story.
